50% discount fare with your East Coast Discovery Pass
East Coast Discovery Pass holders are now entitled to a 50 per cent discount on one return trip to a destination west of the main CountryLink east-coast rail line.
There’s good news for visitors in or residents from regional NSW too - a 50 per cent discount is available on the return trip to the origin from which the East Coast Discovery Pass commences. For example, a return fare for Dubbo-Sydney-Dubbo is available at a 50 per cent discount with a Sydney-Melbourne East Coast Discovery Pass.
Plus if you want the shortest route back home, we are offering a 50 per cent discount on one single trip from the final destination on your East Coast Discovery Pass back to the point of origin listed on your pass. For example, Armidale-Sydney is available at a 50 per cent discount with a Sydney-Brisbane East Coast Discovery Pass, plus an additional 50 per cent discount for Brisbane-Armidale.

East Coast Discovery pass terms and conditions
- All prices are for economy travel for one adult, in Australian dollars, include Goods and Services Tax and are valid from 1 April 2009.
- Travel must commence and the pass validated within 6 months of the date of purchase.
- No refund is allowed after the pass has been validated or journeys commenced.
- Bookings must be made in accordance with the validity dates shown on your pass.
- Available for travel between destinations endorsed on the Pass by CountryLink and Queensland TravelTrain East Coast services in one direction, either North or South. Passengers can not back-track to travel on previously travelled or untravelled sectors
- Exception: Backtracking in conjunction with East Coast Discovery Passes (ECD Passes) - coach journeys east of the main line.
- Final destination to point of origin discount only available where both locations are within the CountryLink network.
- Some booking restrictions exist on various CountryLink services. Local travel under 40kms is not permitted, except where there is no other local coach operator on that route.

Backtracking will now be permitted for coach journeys east of the main CountryLink east coast rail line when continuing in the direction of the pass, e.g. Wauhope - Port Macquarie and return is now permitted if continuing north on a SYD-BNE (ECD) Pass. Sectors permitted include:
- Port Macquarie to Wauchope
- Hawks Nest to Pacific Highway turnoff
- Yamba to Pacific Highway turnoff
- Iluka to Pacific Highway turnoff
- Stations between Surfers Paradise and Casino on the southbound journey
- Tumbarumba to Cootamundra
- Eden to Canberra
50% discount entitlement terms and conditions
- Only in conjunction with an East Coast Discovery Pass.
- Discount is only available from destinations on the CountryLink network.
- Forward and return journeys must be booked and paid for at the same time using the original East Coast Discovery Pass. Return journey must be booked and paid for at the same time using the original East Coast Discovery Pass to qualify for a 50% discount.
- Changes can be made to the return portion after booking. Conditions and fees apply.
- Bookings must be made in accordance with the validity dates shown on your pass.
- Discounted trips must be taken within the six months validity of your pass.
- Tickets are non-refundable once booked.
- Tickets are not transferable to another person.
- Student, pensioner and other concession discounts are not available.
- A journey cannot be broken.
- Bookings are essential prior to boarding.
