Bryon Bay's award winning Bluesfest
5-9 April 2012
Are you ready for the greatest festival of them all? Held annually over Easter in Byron Bay, Bluesfest is one of Australia's most popular music festivals. This year will mark its 23rd anniversary and the third time the festival is held at the lush Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, eight kilometres north of Byron Bay.
Each day up to 20,000 festival guests will enjoy this one-time opportunity to hear blues icons playing blues, roots, alternative, folk, funk, soul, gospel and reggae music.
The sublime line-up of musicians for Bluesfest 2012 includes the legendary Cold Chisel, Crosby Stills & Nash, Roger Daltrey (performing the Who's Tommy and more), Earth Wind & Fire, John Fogerty, Yes, Canned Heat and Donovan. Also performing are the sensational The Specials, The Pogues, Ziggy Marley, Candi Staton, Lucinda Williams, Sublime With Rome, John Butler Trio, My Morning Jacket, John Hiatt & The Combo, Angelique Kidjo, Buddy Guy, Maceo Parker, Zappa Plays Zappa and Seasick Steve. Other amazing artists include G3 featuring Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Steve Lukather; and Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot! And there are many more!
With around 120 artists and over 200 performances across five stages, Bluesfest showcases the finest artists of each musical genre.

Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris

During the seven-decade career of Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) he created extraordinary paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings which had a profound impact on modern art.
The Art Gallery of New South Wales will exhibit more than 150 iconic pieces from the artist's personal collection that he was determined never to relinquish. The exhibition spans every phase of his career, including masterpieces from his Blue, Rose, Expressionist, Cubist, Neoclassical and Surrealist periods and tells a compelling story about the development of the artist's work.

Renaissance treasures by Raphael, Botticelli, Bellini and Titian

The Renaissance exhibition will display over seventy works of art created between 1400 and 1600 by painters in Northern and Central Italy. Some of the greatest European artists - Raphael, Botticelli, Bellini and Titian - are represented among an amazing array of talent which includes paintings of Madonna and Child, dramatic lives of the saints and Bible stories, and insightful portraits.
The Accademia Carrara in Bergamo is closed for renovation, allowing Australians to view these treasures, in Canberra only. Many of these priceless works have never before left Italy.
